Natak Takatak

Drama, Music and Dance have been shown to have many benefits in educational spheres. It is an outlet for self-expression and communication, leads to emotional maturation. Fluency in speech, self-knowledge, self-respect and self-confidence are cited among the personal attributes that improve through drama and involvement in creative activities. Creative educational techniques spur individuals to higher level thinking and functioning as they can see the world for what it might be, rather than being limited to the concrete reality of what it is.

Natak Takatak’s art syllabus has been accepted and welcomed by the Haryana School Education Department in their curriculum. The TIE exercises form the basic training module in theatre leading to productions. We have had very successful and popular staging, both at Kalasthali and many other forums. Classes were being held  at Kalasthali every year for school-going children in all aspects of drama and dramaturgy leading to productions.  Our play ‘Shiksha Mera Adhikaar’ was selected as the trigger for Government of India’s Right to Education campaign called ‘Dastaq-e-taleem’ staged for an audience of 2000 audience, including the Chief Minister of Haryana, The HRD Minister, Govt. of India and the Lok Sabha Speaker. The other plays are ‘Aag’ (on global warming), ‘Chhadi’ (on corporal punishment in schools), ‘Andha Yug’ (on the menace of plastics), ‘The Call of the Tiger’ (A puppet production on animal poaching in Indian forests) besides many plays based on the stories of Munshi Premchand (Idgaah and Panch Parmeshwar) and Bhartendu Harishchandra (Andher Nagari, Chaupat Raja) etc.
