Rang Laatu

Ranga Laatu is a neighborhood theatre in real time! Ranga Laatu is an annual festival weaving diverse communities of Gurugram into one cultural fabric. It is a calendar of 20 theatre presentations of different genres for theatre lovers between 18th February and 30th April 2023. The object is not only to catalyse a culture of neighbourhood theatre in Gurugram but also to provide a  permanent platform for fresh talent and showcase unique and evolving theatre works.

 Ranga Laatu will be a celebration of different genres of theatre in our informal,  open-air intimate theatre dedicated to the renowned theatre stalwart Padma Shri B V Karanth,  whose contribution to Indian theatre is unparalleled. Just as Karanth ji’s strife, all his life was to bring far-flung remote areas of the country together through theatre, Ranga Laatu would endeavour to weave the diverse cultural threads of Gurugram into one multicultural fabric. The informal construct of Karanth Rangshala, our open-air amphitheatre surrounded by Mulberry and Mango trees, intimate yet spacious seating for 100 viewers,  benches for chai and discourses … all these provide Kalasthali Rangshala with a tranquil, cosy feel in the very midst of all the hubbub called Gurugram !!

Ranga Laatu will be a continuous effort to showcase the performances from across the country and abroad too, to develop evolving and innovative forms and genres of theatric productions, to generate interest and appreciation for the theatre arts and to impart training in the theatre arts.  Ranga Laatu is a commitment to meet the aspirations of theatre lovers and to build audiences for it. It is an obligation towards the cultural masonry of our great country.
